A reworking of the 1970’s protest song ‘You Can’t Kill the Spirit’ by Auclair for Deep Throat Choir, which was due to be performed at the Barbican in March 2020 as part of an evening celebrating Richard King’s book ‘The Lark Ascending’. Originally written by Naomi Littlebear Morena in 1977, it became the most salient anthem of the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp.

A performance film as part of a series of commissions for Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival in response to the worldwide lockdown and to “keep music flowing and work for composers circulating”. Based on a story from her mother’s childhood as a refugee from Rwanda, Auclair composed the piece by taking the melody of her mother’s voice and translating it to the bass clarinet. Performed by Ausiàs Garrigós Morant.
